REFORM001 – Bluescreen ‘Nimble Fingers EP’

motaha - December 12, 2015 - 0 comments

Reform Music’s first release delivers all that in the form of a sumptuous stunningly engineered 4 track footwork EP from Portsmouth’s very own Bluescreen.

Bluescreen’s been making waves on the local scene for a while now, both as a DJ and with a string of stellar free downloads that really demonstrate his intelligent production style and Reform are very proud to be able to present his sound to a wider audience.

This EP is a demonstration of all that’s best about Footwork. The title track ‘Nimble Fingers’ is a blissed-out, sample-laden 160bpm track that’s full of clever percussion and drum edits backed with some gorgeous pads that sound like a Detroit summer.

‘Nu Juke Em’ does exactly what it says on the tin: it’s a fat bit of Juke goodness that takes some classic vocal samples and turns them on their head creating 4 minutes and 2 seconds of aural bliss that’s equally at home in the club or on a home stereo.

If you noticed the Rashad reference in the title of ‘I’m Feeling High (til Tha next life)’ then you’d be completely correct. Just like the production of the late, great DJ Rashad this is a minimal piece of footwork that’s interspersed with beautiful little vox snippets, instantly changing the tune from moody stepper to summertime classic.

‘I Needed You’ rounds off the EP in spectacular style. Just like the rest, it’s an intricate, ornate tune that’s built for the sunshine and seamlessly references classic Juke flavours brought up to date for the 21st century.
